Can we ask which Halfords it is?

My advice ... get it from Halfords when they have a proper sale (not £100 off) and DON'T GO BACK!

Sure, Craigavon in Northern Ireland. I believe there is someone in there who does know their stuff but it ain't this guy.

I highly doubt this chap is in the habit of posting on a cycling forum, he'd have known at least something if he did. I'll probably follow your advice, wait for a decent price drop and do the deed.

Hmmm - I can see your problem. Armagh and Lisburn have Halford's as well though. My only experience in NI has been McConvey Cycles in Belfast; they did a good job for me but it was a long time ago!

My other LBS ie within 15 miles are all rubbish too to be honest. Ok for getting work done but the range is woeful. One bike shop has a grand total of 8 bicycles in the store.

might even be safer picking up a second hand decent brand for the same as halfords money.

I have a Virtuoso 2011/2012 model. I think the specs are better chain set wise than the 2010/2011 model, its a cracking bike no fitting for sticking a rack on but enough stuff out there to allow you to do this, Ive only recently change the tyres after I noticed lump in my tyre.

Does it have to be a Carrera? Don't get me wrong, Mrs. Ardon has a Carrera Hybrid, and I've had a Subway 8 in the past, but doesn't the Decathlon Triban 3 give you the same level of bike for £299?

Certainly doesn't have to be a Carrera, it's just that Halfords is close ish to me, whereas Decathlon is miles away. That said if the bike is assembled properly I might be lucky enough not to have to bring it back for a sort out!!

I've also considered the Triban, it definitely is in with a shout. Lot of bike for the money.
