I've just tried to replace the cassette on my wheel but have an issue when tightening the cassette lock ring, if I do it any more than finger tight the cassette binds in to the hub so it won't freewheel.

It is a Superstra Pave 28 wheel which is 11 speed ready. I have got Shimano 10 speed cassette, the previous one was fine when on the wheel and torqued up to 40nm.

I've never had a spacer on there as I thought they were usually for 11 speed cassettes. I'm at a loss so will phone Superstar tomorrow but wondered if anyone had any ideas.

The cassettes look very similar to the eye but there must be something different enough to cause this problem.

It looks to be catching/binding on the hub flange to me.

I have been in touch with Superstar Components today, they said the spacer is needed to stop the problem so they have offered to drop one in the post.

What a nice touch of good customer service :-)
