The owners of a cat have appealed to outraged animal lovers not to "take matters into their own hands" after a passer-by dumped her in a wheelie bin.
An RSPCA investigation was started after a woman was filmed on CCTV throwing four-year-old Lola into a bin outside her owners' home in Coventry.
Darryl Mann released his trapped pet 15 hours later after hearing her cries.
Police said community support officers were brought in after large crowds gathered outside the woman's home.
Outrage was sparked after the film was posted online to try to trace the woman, prompting hundreds of angry messages about her.
She was later identified by police.
'Getting aggressive'Lola was released unhurt on Sunday and the RSPCA is now leading an investigation into animal cruelty, supported by West Midlands Police.

"I don't know how someone could do it to such a defenceless animal.
"I thought she might have got in herself - she's not the brightest cat.
"It's disgusting, she's a lovely cat... she'd never hurt anyone."

Obviously what she did is outrageous, cruel, and indefensible.
However, the cat is unhurt, therefore I think we're allowed to joke about it now.

Cats seem to be either loved or loathed, there appears to be no middle ground.
The antis can be prompted to the most extreme behavior as this stupid women showed. They also fail to appreciate the reaction of those who like cats, which can be just as extreme.

The one who has owned us for many years is a real part of the family. If the idiot who lives close ever harms him, as he has threatened to, he will have my other half to deal with. She would probably castrate him.

I'm in the middle, I'm just not interested in them. Much more of a dog person, though obviously I wouldn't throw a cat in a bin. I tried to put my mate's cat in the basket of my bike once for a picture, but she wasn't having any of it.

Love that quote "the one that has owned us" is so true for cats,i had two strays that decided i could look after them along with the two i already had ! I had many years of fun with them,sadly they have all passed away but they had good lives with me and my family.
Anyone who would hurt any animal has serious issues in my mind and deserve everything they get !
