RSPCA visit done. The cat we went to view needs far more people, and far far more space than we could offer. And we've a decent-sized house and garden. It was an absolute livewire! If anyone is looking for a highly intelligent and massively energetic male kitten it's in Halifax. Don't let the innocent face fool you!

Instead we've put in to adopt a little lady cat, about 5 months old. Photos and details if that completes and she comes to live with us. And for @Reynard - she's a tortie.

If it's any good, the cats protection have a rescue centre at Gildersome

I just open the patio door and get a parade of cats - I think my cat is operating some kind of Cat Cafe for her neighbourhood chums, ginger floof lives next door and is a regular customer!

We had a situation on holiday in France one year, where the house we had rented was visited by a pregnant cat, and her mate, the previous families had been feeding them, so we carried it on, every morning there were two hungry faces at the kitchen door, until one morning only the male grey tabby was there, so it seemed the female had got hidden away to have the kittens, the following morning the male was back with another friend, as two mugs put food out for us, his friend was a pedigree siamese!

@ktmbiker58 - because we had a cat until last summer there still is a regular procession coming in and looking for food despite there being none available. They do help themselves to sleeping locations as well!. They've been joined by two entirely new cats, so I'm guessing there is some sort of cat noticeboard of houses with food available?

Not sure how the new kitten will take to this arrangement.

As a result I've made contact with a local pet charity and hope to visit shortly. My preference is for a cat which is slightly older and in need of a new home.
Good for you.
There are so many cats / kittens & dogs / puppies in rescue centre that need homes, there's no excuse at all for buying one from a breeder.

We do have a rescue currently, and had never paid for cats until MrsF and daughter got some Ragdolls. One ninja and three ragdolls.

Of the thirteen cats we've had to date over the years, seven currently, all are rescues apart from one who turned up as a stray and decided to stay and that was eleven years ago - ! ^_^

First two were from someone locally that found a cat that was then pregnant, so we did a donation to cat's rescue. Then the next one was a kitten a friend's cat had given birth to. Then MrsF bought a ragdoll, who wouldn't stay in, and he got squished when he was one. So MrsF found a cat rescue person and we went to see Leo - he'd lived on a construction site so came with bits of concrete in his fur and an appetite for plastic ham and cheese, oh and Felix AGAIL or Gourmet.... then a while later two more ragdolls turned up from the breeder, and then another a year later. We did get to five, as third was around when the later lot came about - TBH, they left her alone as she was elderly, and they seemed to know that.
