I know but I strongly prefer the functionality of a dedicated bike computer fit for purpose.

Your money, but the question is are you competing, riding for leisure, commuting 5 or 7 days a week on a bike? And can you see yourself using it in 3 years time?

Leisure + commuting, and been using it 2 years already. Expect I'll be using it or something similar until I die.

Sometimes I think it takes the fun out of cycling. Timing yourself. But I have to admit I'd love to join a bike club and get pushed to my limit

I think I would rather pay £14 for a computer.

Its mainly for leisure riding.

I have the earlier model, the Velo 5 and it is entirely satisfactory.
Big easy to read digital display.
Battery lasts for ages.
Simple operation with just one button.
Weatherproof.
It's silent.
It's cheap..
In fact, the advantages over a mobile phone are just about endless.

I have Velo 7 and find it very good and easy to set up to your wheel size. The only small problem is that when it's raining sometimes water gets onto the contacts and stops it working, however putting some waterproof tape around the edge between the computer and the handlebar fitting will sort that out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
