Done it a few times on the International Cycling Week Mountain TT. Cracking descent of Snaefell. Did about 60mph flying into one of the hairpins near the bottom. Just have to watch for the sheep.

IIRC he hits nearly 45mph in a sprint, so he could still be doing a fair amount of pedalling if the gradient isn't steep enough.

East Chevin at Otley (Wharfedale, east of Ilkley) is descendable at that sort of speed, but it's not closed, has a bumpy surface,& has multiple car-parks/driveways onto it

Very enjoyable, but scary too!!!

Yep - it wasn't so much the downhill speed but the way he took that hairpin just had my jaw on the floor.

Somebody lent me a bike in South Africa and for some reason it had a 60 or 62 tooth ring fitted! Ridiculous! It was too small for me and horrible to ride and wouldn't shift down to the small ring so I had to climb all the hills on the middle ring, which was probably something like a 48. I ended up exhausted but it was fast down the hills....
