I'm not a stamp collector but I spotted these today and thought ''I'll have some of these!'' I've just ordered a couple of mint presentation packs from islandstampsandcoins.co.uk

Does anybody know whether you can buy Isle of Man stamps for general use in the UK?

No, not valid in UK.

Strangely the chief export industry on many of these small islands is stamps.

I think the stamp will come off the front of the envelope.

And it's a good job you no longer have to lick the back of stamps.

Slightly OT but the queens head on our mainland stamps seriously need updating . If she has no plan to abdicate soon then Royal Mail should get a new profile image, we have had the same one since the 1960's. On those Isle of Man stamps she looks even younger, It's the little things that irritate me.

Maam is also facing the wrong way making them stamps void

It doesn't matter on stamps, some commemoratives have the Machin profile in the top left corner facing inwards.
