Shifter paddle "just broke" (honest

)
[technical bit] The paddle rotates round a shaft in the mech and the metal broke at that shaft.
If it were a car engine, it's like the piston on the crankshaft and it broke where the piston joins to the big end shells !

It's still under 2-yr warranty, so sent it back to Condor, who sent it to SRAM - it's been replaced and is now in the post back

. I might even have it fitted for Saturday

I plan to do a longish run this weekend so Dalmeny on Sat p.m. seems like a good starting point.

Thinking of 'round the bridges' route or else an out and back over to Fife (up to 20 miles out or so) - after the RV meet of course!

Happy to have company or join anyone else that has a better idea!

HJ and Telemark were in Austria earlier this week (skiing). Haven't heard from HJ since Monday, but he's been very quiet on twitter so I guess they are still there.

Thinking about this I may be able to make it by about 12:30 as I can be at the inverkiething stn at 12 on my folding bike - just need to find the RV from Dalmeny stn!! After a couple of cakes I should be able to cycle back without using the train ;-)

. We sat outside in the sunshine and caught up on the winter news - including sleekitcollie's cycle tour of Jura and Islay - last month or some other time equally cold

. He said it wasn't too bad - he had the portable BBQ and the red wine, so how much of his account is genuine ...

Present were edindave (with Mrs edindave and wee Isaac

), sleekitcollie and scoosh; Honestman1910 was a bit late and HLaB arrived after doing the club run (with the muddy face to prove it ).

Don't think there were any photos taken but it was a good first meet of the year.


Now, who's going to organise the next one ???

the red wine & the disposable BBQ were genine . brought the bbq home unused and unpacked ( lesson for nxt trip ) . the red wine ... that was used

great to see everyone today . but hey only in the place 5 min and i end up baby siting
but to be fair wee Isaac was a wee cuitie and very well behaved
