the forecast says sunny, warm(ish), a bit breezy ... :wahhey:

I've been off the bike too long and am planning a short-ish ride, to find my cycling legs again :shy:

Just thought I'd mention it, in case somebody fancies a cup of tea & cake somewhere in Ecosseland :bicycle:

Seeing as all replies so far are from the eastern & northeastern corner of CC Ecosseland, how about Craigie's Farm Shop & Cafe?

It's close to Edinburgh, so I should be able to cycle there & back on my first ride in AGES  , and it's not too far from the border to the Kingdom. Anybody who thinks it's too close to home can go there "the long way".

They even have a Bike map on their website, so should be cyclist-friendly

12-ish?

Suit's me. It's about a mile from my house!

I'm going for a ride tomorrow morning (regardless of the weather) and could call in there on the way back

It was WET today, I include capital letters as it was as very, very wet. So wet that every item of clothing went in the washer when I got home. Did nearly 90km though and enjoyed every minute! Won't be there tomorrow as I'm on daddy-duty.

Indeed it was

- which is why I did my 75km on Friday, when it was not wet, just very windy

.

I planned on going to LLL but it was so windy that I bottled out at Kelty and went to Baxters (ex Butterchurn, ex Kathellen

) instead. The wind was blowing me around, which made some of the descents a bit lairy, so I had to slow right down.

I had to go fairly slowly up the hills too - but not just because of the wind

!

None of this had anything to do with it being my third ride since the end of November, with no turbo-time)

Apologies from me, too  ...

I left the house with the best intentions, but then the wind intervened ... various roads I intended to take were closed, forcing me to divert, having a roadworks barrier blown into me, being nearly blown over a few times made me change my mind, I am afraid. :surrender: In the end I went as far as the allotment and dug up some parsnips instead.

Sorry guys, I hope there wasn't a lonely CCer  waiting for company at the cafe  ...

But the good news is that I got my first ride of the year on the books :wahhey:

Hi McShroom! Looks like you've ordered some good weather for your tour ...

A week on Saturday is probably a wee bit early for me for Ayr-Glasgow, as I am only just de-mothballing the bike from its hibernation  . I am sure some of the mega-mile westies will be along shortly

Have fun and post a ride report with photos, please!

I'm sure it would be ok for an early season cobweb dusting ride. That bit's not very hilly

I really hope the weather forcast holds true, and yes I will be doing a full write up with piccies and everything. The Lochs and Glens South doesn't seem to get much coverage compared to it's highland relative but some of the views in Galloway Forest Park look stunning
