CC Ecosse November RV ride?

After some recent discussions of this topic both out on the roads on recent rides, and here on the forum, I thought we should try and see if there is interest in actually getting this thing realized.

For those new to the concept, an RV (rendezvous) ride is basically a time and location where food(cake) is available, and an invitation to show up an enjoy the company of fellow CC'ers. With the short days at this time of year, this format dispenses with the complications of early starts/late finishes for travel to/from a start location, while still allowing for the indispensable cake stop. Everyone is simply invited to convene on the chosen location using a route and speed of their choice.

So, in order to do this we need two things: A location, and a date. Off the top of my head I can come up with a few location options:

Beecraigs near Linlithgow.
Corrieris in Causewayhead (Stirling).
Craigies farm near Dalmeny
@Telemark 's kitchen

Anyone have other suggestions/preferences?

As for the date, how about one of the first Saturdays in November?

As I was saying in the other thread, how about agreeing on a day and see if there is interest (and, dare I say it ) suitable weather for one more proper CC Ecosse ride? If yes on both counts, that would be my preferred option before the winter kicks in properly ... Or we could combine a social ride with an RV in Auld Reekie (our kitchen), or turn it into a straight RV ride if the conditions are less favourable... how does that sound?

Saturday is club run day, but I could probably make Craigies for 1pm on those dates.

I figured the exact time would be dependent on the chosen location. 1 pm is probably more or less reasonable, though.

So, a "proper" ride terminating at chez @Telemark , with an RV option for people with little time, or conversion to full-on RV if the weather turns sour?

The Gladhouse reservoir route looks good, I have a loop I do around that area and know of a few wee extra bits for @Fubar and others if they want to do 100K.

Edit. Mrs S says folk can drop in for a piece of cake at our end as well.

I haven't been out towards the Gladhouse Reservoir for a while - lots of pleasant quiet roads and nice views once you get beyond Bonnyrigg/Lasswade .
@ShooglyDougie - I was just thinking that the only downside to that route was the lack of cake stops along the route that weren't too close to Edinburgh ... (may just be me - any suggestions of nice cake stop places grateful received for future rides!) - Are you sure Mrs S. knows what she is letting herself in for?
@Scoosh's route contains the Poltonmill climb ... we can either make sure we go along there or avoid it, depending on people's preference , and Chez T's can definitely be available for post-ride soup & cake ..

Any timings would obviously depend on how the day turns out and how far people are travelling/riding from ... Just thinking aloud , if people prefer something else, we can postpone this one, but the offer is there.

Option a) If we are lucky and a proper social ride is possible, we could start from near Waverley Station around 10:00. Trains from Weegieland and main stops along the route go every 15 min on Saturdays, and every 30 min from the smaller stations, and on Sundays, if I remember correctly.
A short-ish ride along this route (56 km/35 miles, with ~ 500m climbing including Poltonmill) would probably take 3.5 hours or so at the pace of recent CC Ecosse rides, including short stops to admire the scenery. If Mrs @ShooglyDougie is willing, we could divert a couple of km for a short-ish refreshment stop, before heading back into Edinburgh for a late lunch - say 14:00/14:30-ish?
This would give people a couple of hours of daylight afterwards to cycle or catch the train back home (escort to the station can be provided).
If 2 cake stops in short succession are making this less practical for those travelling from further afield, maybe we could "bank" Mrs @ShooglyDougie's kind & generous offer for another RV ride soon? If this turned out to be the favoured option, that would mean "lunch" around 13:30-ish.
Option b) If the weather turns out less than ideal ... some hardy souls may still want to meet up for a wee social ride, and others would be welcome to just make their own way to the RV at our place (which is near the Commonwealth Pool/Arthur's Seat, details will be provided off-line) ... perhaps a bit earlier, as suggested by Rasmus, for about 1pm?

Option c) If it's really icy, we could still meet up for soup and cake, and just have the Chat without the Cycle

If anyone here is on Facebook, there is an Audax Ecosse group (just "join group")with proposed fortnightly 100km-ish rides over the "winter" - mostly from S Queensferry/Musselburgh/and maybe even Perth.

Claimed speeds are 13-15mph with cakestop en route. I plan on turning upo to a few.

How are you settling in - saw you mentioning that you were going to move south, within the range of CC Ecosse?

Aye settling in fine, off oot in the morning for a ride tae Berwick-on-Nobber just to see if I get let o'er the border or not.

I was almost gonna go on the Langholm CC ride but I have another ride the day after.

If you are FB-averse I might post details on here as the rides should be good.
