As I have not been on a forum ride for a while and rather than wait for someone else to plan one, here is a ride I have wanted to do for a while ...

My link

This starts and ends in Loanhead as that is where I live. I have put the actual start/and at the local leisure center.

As mapped it is almost a perfect metric ton. There is a possible stopping point at halfway in Traquair House for a bite. There is a probability that we would have to pay to get on the grounds, otherwise we should find something in Innerleithan.

Once back, those that have to depart homewards will be able to do so from the leisure center, otherwise Mrs T has offered to lay on post ride refreshments back at Château Touche. So that not too few or many cakes/scones/sandwiches etc are prepared, could you indicate your intention to dine as well as your intention to ride.

OK, I have consulted Mrs T.

We are OK for the following weekend, although she thinks it may be the September weekend and people may have holiday plans.

So, date is not 11/09/11, but 18/09/11.

Mods!!! any chance you could change the thread title?

Pencil me in for that. I may have relatives visiting that weekend which might put the kybosh on it for me, but otherwise I would be interested. I have done variations of that route several times over the last year and its a great run. The road over from Eddleston to the west of Peebles is beautiful. I live in Dalkeith so I might ride over and turn off and head for home round about Gorebridge.

What time would you be starting though?

Hadn't really given that too much thought and am open to negotiation.

To allow for people to get to the start how about 10:00

I think the ride will take 4-5 hours, maybe longer looking at the profile for the return leg.

Anyway, to start the roll calls for ride & tiffin ...

Ooooh, that's a super route! I've done most of it at one time or another, but never all in a circuit like that. (Files route away for future reference.) As someone said, that's the holiday weekend, so we (me and Mr fimm) might be going away.

Ohhh - looks like a brilliant route. Not sure if I'll be able to make it though, so pen me in for a maybe. If I do make it, I'll have to head westwards directly from the finish.

:hello: Hello Touche, good to "see" you again!

This is probably a bit too far for me currently, but I'll keep an eye on the thread ... would going the opposite way a bit later and trying to find you on your way home still count as a pass for access to the cakes?

Good to see you too. :hello:

Despite anything scoosh may say to the cotrary, given the amount of tea and cake you have provided me in the past, consider both yourself & HJ special cases. You would be welcome, even if there were no bikes in sight.

Scoosh on the other hand ...

... has to go round the course twice  (on another day)

Thanks Touche :girl: , I'll see how it goes! In case you haven't read about it elsewhere on CC - HJ is 5 1/2 weeks into recovering from breaking his collarbone, and has been told (in no uncertain terms!) to stay off the bike until he is given permission by the doc .. so he would have to turn up with some help from LRT.
