How tuff would you say that 50 miles is?

I haven't done it Col. Only did the top half when I went the other week. I can tell you there's big climb after Lochranza in the north, heading clockwise. Gains roughly 600 feet in about 2 miles, no extreme gradients though - just a long slog. I think there's also a bit of a climb heading south from Brodick but can't speak from experience.

You can see the profile here http://ridewithgps.com/routes/1166033 - just ignore the first and last climbs as they are the String Road which traverses the island across the middle.

Circular route of Arran is 55 miles or there is the alternative 'figure of 8' which is 75 miles. Road surfaces are best described as 'variable'
