CC Funding

I reckon 'we' should have had no reason to ask TBH....if you need to know 'why' I reckon the spirit of CC has passed some people by.

I'm torn on that. If I'd just been here I might agree but having watched a similiar thing on another forum I know it's not always so simple.

Having watched the response here though, I realize that we cyclists are a good bunch, a cut above, as they say.

But I am quite 'worried' by the tone of this thread which I think asks for Shaun to justify his request....IMO you either 'get' CC or you do not.

Oh come on Noodley... There is nothing wrong with people asking for where their money is to be spent. Not everyone has 7000+ posts!!

Shaun has justified the hardware costs. If you valued CC as a business, it would be the paid for hardware plus the intangible goodwill.

The prepaid hardware costs are worth nil, the goodwill on this forum? - priceless

Perfecty proper for people to ask where the money goes......

I will be happy to pay a few bob to support it, but in return it's only fair to know what I need to support.

If we were being asked to pay a subscription to use the site then I think it would be fair to get more details of where the money is going. In the case of a subscription you are normally paying to use the site and are therefore part of the commercial exercise.
Here we are being asked to make a donation to help Shaun keep the site running. We don’t have to do it and we will not be locked out if we don’t donate. There is no pressure on anyone to donate and as far as I can see there is no list made public on which members do, or do not, make a donation. If the money we send helps to keep CC running we are all winners, the alternative is not worth thinking about!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wasn't suggesting that Shaun needed to justify his request, I just hadn't realised the scale of his generosity until now...
