As long as I breathe, I attack.
This is the one from Rosliston Forestry Centre , not the monster from Uttoxeter as this one i can ride to the start maybe 3 ( ? ) miles away .
I have just signed up for the medium route , i havent done a sportive for a couple of years due to family and work taking up to much time to get the miles in.
Anyone else on CC doing it ?, have a good ride !

Thanks for letting me know about it on another thread. I`m seriously thinking about doing the Mini Monster for my first sportive event @cyberknight . I`m going to try to get a few mates in on this :highfive:

Any advice would be very much appreciated

I bet I`ll have to wear a helmet :headshake:

I started riding with mercia CC from burton town hall on a sunday to get used to riding a good distance and riding in a group .
Without knowing how far you normally ride its hard to say what to go for , im doing the medium distance .

The mini monster is 44 miles, as the start is close i have even considered just riding the route as training .

For the mini monster you should be ok with a couple of bottles of your preferred energy drink and maybe a nibble of choice as long as you have fueled right beforehand, i often do a club run of 50-60 miles on a good breakfast , a bottle of no cal and a cake stop but you know what you need as it varies from person to person .
For a sportive i would be aiming to have a nibble every half hour or so to keep energy levels topped up along with keeping hydrated , so i would belookign at maybe 3 bottles for the medium distance .
Dont go off to fast and burnout, learn the route or have a map/ gps device as you can easily miss signs and take a detour ( not as that has happened )

Thanks to the CC 50 km a month challenge, i`m getting some nice time in the saddle. I`v done ten 50 km rides and one 100 km ride since the start of this year, so the mini monster should be right up my street.

Cheers for the info, CK
Sorry i was a bit brief , kids and all .
Lots of information about riding and preparing for a sportive if you google .
Whats your average speed for a 30 miler/50 km ?
This is my last big ride from a few weeks ago , nice steady pace for me as it was a medium club run so a no drop ride .
