As mentioned in the Jodd ride, anyone fancy riding out to the National Hill Climb on 30th October ?

Buxton CC National Hill Climb

Will be an early start though. Racing starts at 10am.

A variety of routes.

A6 Disley, Whaley, Long Hill

Potts Shrigley (Brickworks)- Whaley Long Hill

Potts Shrigley, (Brickworks or Blaze Hill) then (Windgather or Jenkins Chapel) and Goyts Lane.

I'd suggest a meet up at Hazel Grove rather than Stockport Station.

Most clubs meet at the Rising Sun, so might be an idea to meet at the Bulls Head car park (corner of Torkington Road) - just down the road from the Rising Sun.

Any preferences for a route - the A6 is boring ? Potts Shrigley, Whaley is easiest of the other routes, and we'll still do Brickworks and then Long Hill.

Brickworks / Blaize are similar in difficulty. Brickworks longer, Blaize steeper.
Windgather is much easier than Jenkins Chapel. Goyts Lane - no get out !

How much does it cost to Oldham?
I'll try and get out for this one.

I'm up for this.

I like to avoid A roads - I do like the Brickworks - lovely micro climates up there.

Cafe stop? Pott Shrigley cafe?

Hmm, Common Barn Farm Tea Rooms at Rainow overlooks Lamaload Reser. - means a trip down Goyts Rd into the valley, up The Street to Pyms Chair, then down Jenkins Chapel  , and up Dead Mans Hill to Rainow.

Mmmm.. just looked at the Hillclimb course - on my old stamping ground when I used to live up a long dirt road above Chapel-en-le-Frith. Might have to make an effort to get over there. But I doubt I'll be joining you guys for the ride - not for a 10am start in Whalley Br.
