Just back from selling stuff at a Bike jumble in Whalley. There was a guy there wearing Scunthorpe Road club colours who had left home at 3.30 this morning for the ride to Whalley ( near Skipton ) and approx 100 miles. When I left a noon he was just getting back on his bike to do the return trip and hoped to get home before it got dark...... respect!! Was it anybody here???

Whalley is 17 miles from Skipton; it is much nearer to Accrington, Blackburn or Burnley (6 miles-ish).

That's quite a ride from Scunthorpe and not one that I would have considered doing, given what is in between the two, but perhaps that is why he did it - just to be different! ;)

We got a bit lost and I kept seeing signs to Skipton hence the association. I looked on a map last night and "what's in between" is pretty daunting!!! We dont do hills here except the one over the raiway bridge down the road...
BTW Theres another big bikefair on the 13th at Longridge ( not far from Whalley ) I have the address somewhere should anybody be interested.

I got chatting to a lovely chap at the Lincoln GP earlier this year. He was well into his fifties or even early sixties. He had cycled that morning from Birmingham to Lincoln into a rocking head wind, and was cycling back the same day. They breed 'em tough in the Black Country.

We do 'em all the time! Actually, we were out that way this afternoon and went over some of those hills...
