Although there is a general 'public place' exception to the Data Protection Act (DPA), by advertising that you are routinely videotaping those round you and by saying you may publish such footage, then you will probably bring yourself under the provisions of the DPA. If this was the case, you would be required to register with the Information Commissioner, provide contact details to all and sundry, and provide access to any footage upon request.

It might not be if the above is the case, but it would be nice to have a visible deterrent. When people see the camera they tend to behave better. However, my camera is quite small and difficult to see, so I have to actually point it out. If it was possible to 'advertise' that I was recording that would save a lot of hassle and possible improve the road behavior of others.

(Obviously wearing the camera I have to behave myself!! ;) )

Then don't tell them you intend to publish the output.

Just a sign warning there is a camera and let their little minds do the illogical linking. :thumbsup:
