CCWS: Cycle Commute Withdrawal Syndrome

It's been about two months since I've worked at a place that has secure cycle parking and I'm going mildly crazy.

Don't get me wrong. I do lots of exercise and cycle at the weekend whenever possible. In fact, last weekend I threw down a little 25-miler when visiting the Dad. Worthing to Brighton and back along the coast. Crazy windy- 12.5 miles awesome tailwind and 12.5 miles of beautiful fresh sea air battering me at 25mph+.

Anyway, I digress.

Seriously missing SCR, anticipating all motor vehicles' moves, going toe-to-toe with busses, guilt-free massive lunches, the occasional light-hearted chat at traffic lights, generally just that cultured feeling of being part of the London cyclists. Not to mention the mixed reaction in the workplace as I stride through in lycra shorts. When changing into the cycling gear you become a different character to the one at work (or on the tube); the tinted glasses just do something and you become your cycling persona. Don't have a name for mine right now, but during Movember I was 'the flying moustache'

Hoping to be back in business soon!

Felt I'd share that whilst awaiting a brief. Wishing anyone else with CCWS a speedy return to cycle commuting.

I know exactly how your feel. Back in march, I was floored with a burst appendix:sad:and wasn't allowed to ride for 8 weeks!. Got back on the bike and have just been sent to work for a month in London:sad:. Have to drive firm's vehicles, hate driving in London - too many nutters (do you have to have your brain removed to pass your test in London???). Miss my Spesh Rockhopper:sad:, miss the cyclepaths and no sitting in jams.

London certainly takes some getting used to. Not particularly fun to drive round- takes a fair amount of patience. Still, cycling round London is great once you have a feel for the traffic.

See you're from Bristol, plenty of nice hills round that way! Hope the stomach's all good when back on the hopper of rocks. You only have a month here, it'll go in no time!
