Took the lights off last week...then thought better of it, just in case I had a P*ncture on the way back and ended up cycling in the dark. Deffo no lights on this week, though!
I shall probably compromise: take off the heavy (-ish) rechargeable front some time this week (thus freeing up a bottle cage), but leave the rear on, it doesn't weigh much. But leave the mount in place on the bars for a small clip-on front (kept in desk drawer) - 'just in case' .
No lights, no mudguards and I've got the season off to such a great start that I can afford to be choosy and not ride in the wet. The mountain bike is for wet muddy rides.
Nope - it'll be dark at 6am when I cycle in to work so the lights stay on. In actual fact, I left my lights on all year round last year - there were so many dark, wet days with reduced visibility that I had them switched on a lot throughout the summer!
Have taken big "headlamp" lights off, but still occasionally cycle in dusk/twighlight/misty conditions etc so keep front and rears on just in case.
Mudguards are a permanent fixture on both my bikes... went out t'other week with two friends who were guardless... it rained... it wasn't pleasant to ride behind them, and their clothes got filthy
