Two parts to this really- chain has started slipping when under load having covered 2,200 all weather commuter miles, is this about right to need a replace? A simple ruler check and tension over the big ring check suggests it is and a new one is on the way- I was just wondered what the anticipated mileage should be?

Secondly when I change the chain is there a specific pin I need to remove? I've watched various chain breaking guides/ videos/ instructions and it doesn't appear so but wanted to check before I tease the wrong one out.

This is all on a KMC Z7 8 speed.

2200 miles is about usual for a chain change but the fact that it's slipping under load suggests you'll need to change the cassette too. It's quite likely it'll slip even worse if you only change the chain.

You don't need to remove a specific pin on a KMC chain (just shorten the new one to the required length) and it should come with a quick link which will make joining easy.
