i use 8 speed chains and i like sram pc-68, nice, shiny and durable. i've bought them in bulk few years ago. currently sram makes pc-890 as a replacement, but not as good in my opinion.
i've used many different oils and waxes over the time, but found that simple light oil (for dry conditions) works best. finish line dry teflon works ok, but i needed to apply it every 100 miles (= every few hours of riding) to keep the chain quiet, so i couldn't be bothered in the end.
