hi all

im building my first fixie and read lots of websites but one thing i carnt get straight in my mind

its an old Raleigh record and if i was to go "freewheel" i would just removed the 5 speed cassette from the original wheel and with the use of spacers would get a straight chain drive with my single cog
but i would like to buy these wheels from ebay
http://www.ebay.co.u...984.m1423.l2649
so how do you make adjustment to get the straight drive line that everybody says is so important

thanks

robert

Found this image of a DP18, and it looks like there is a fair amount of thread available, so spacers at the rear should get you there.

Hopefully if you need to adjust anything, you can just use spacers to move the rear cog a little :

Alternatively you may need to get a new bottom bracket, or crank, which is a massive faff.

You should be able to get a decent line with some spacers at the back tho, remembering to leave room for the lock ring, if you choose to use one. Which you should.

bought from velosolo a few days ago and the bike build is coming on slowly, very happy with my chain line so i just need to get the tension right. i was playing with the 18t cog that came with the wheel today but my old raleigh record didnt have enough adjustment in the rear dropouts and then my chain breaker ttool broke so called it a day. just hoping the 14t cog i ordered yesterday will fall more in the "sweet spot" or rear adjustment
