Hi

At the weekend I was cleaning and lubing my Drive Chain when I noticed that one of the teeth on the large chain ring (front) was shorter than the others. On close inspection it appears the very tip of it had broken off.

The chain still engages fully with the tooth but I wondered what might have caused it and whether I should be thinking of changing the chain ring.

Any advice?

See if there are others like it as these aid shifting. If it's the only one, then it's broken off. Shouldn't cause too much bother unless the ring is warped.

I checked at the time and it appeared to be the only one. It was definitely broken as there was a slight burring which I had to file down (very gently!).

I'll check again tomorrow for others and also the trueness of the ring.
