Have a 2009 Sepsh Roubaix with intergrated headset.
The headset is making a ceaking sound like one would not beleive.
So I expect it's the cartridge bearings that need replacing.

This is one of the only jobs on my bikes that I have yet to attempt.
I guess that the top bearing is a 1&1/8th.
The lower larger bearing is a 'Specialized Campy Style 1-3/8"
'

Looking at you tube, it's a case of just dropping out the forks and the bearings just pop out to be replaced like for like.

Is that right?

But, I can't seem to find the 1-3/8" cartridge to buy anywhere.
Anyone have any pointers.

Thanks
Ian.

The "Campy" style refers to the top bearing.

The lower bearing is a bit more specialised (forgive the pun).

You can buy a new headset for £30 here

Cheers for the link Pete, that looks the jobbie.
Though would prefer to buy just the bearings as no need for spacers etc

And am I correct saying the bearings just pop out and replace like for like?

Doddle to change as well - one of the 'advantages' of ahead system and cartridge bearings. Note the way any washers/spacers come off.

OK, that was an easy job.
Off with the brake.
Off with the top cap.
off with the stem/handlebars.
Out with the forks.
Out with the bearings.
Jeez... 3 years of accumulated gunk on both bearings and the faces.
All cleaned, re-greased and put back together..
Hey presto.... creaking has gone.
Lovely.

Cheers all.

Brill.

I find headsets can creak/crack if the pre-load washer isn't fully greased, or the cartridge body not smeared with grease.

I was a bit apprehensive at taking it apart, but blimey, it was easier then as easy thing that came from planet easy.

But now I know how to do it. it's another job on the list for when the bike comes apart once a month for its big clean.
