Had a strange confrontation today. Was standing admiring a KTM motorbike parked up on a pavement. A guy who I didn't associate with the bike drove up and parked a car beside it. He made some comment about it being a nice bike, and I jokingly replied along the lines of "Yes it certainly is, but the rider could do with tightening the chain a touch" (it did appear overly slack).

You would have thought I had just asked for a date with his wife. He got out of the car and said "I've got 37 years experience and I don't need anyone to tell me when my chain needs adjusting. You don't know how the suspension works". Not in a pleasant tone either, the nobber.

I wasn't up for a battle over such trivia, so I didn't bother telling him that I have been riding motorbikes and doing my own servicing on them for 33 years. I just pretended I was a disgruntled teenager and muttered "wotevahhh" as I walked away. I hope his chain doesn't jump off the rear sprocket at 70mph..

Trail bikes do look slack compared to a road bike..
but his attitude was of the nobber stance..

i met a guy on my xc ride last week as he pulled up at the footbridge to train spot i think.
brand new KTM690 with a akro on it ..lovely sound..we chated bikes for 10 mins as you do..most bikers love a bit of bike blurb..
