Chainset upgrade/replacement

Hi all,

I currently have a Tiagra compact 50/34 chain set and a Tiagra 4600 bottom bracket cup set. The outer chain ring has sharks teeth and burring so i am guessing its time to change. The cycling shops i have queried do not have a 50t chain ring in stock so i am tempted to upgrade the chain set. What are my upgrade options?

They are meant to have sharks teeth and burring.

Unless you have done 10k on it I wouldn't worry

Unless you experience problems such as the chain jumping off or skipping on the front rings (most likely after fitting a new chain) then don't bother. If you do need to buy a new chainset then anything that fits your BB will work be it from Shimano, SRAM, FSA etc. 105 is an upgrade in cost from Tiagra, but I would suspect you won't notice any performance improvement.
