Chainsets and bottom brackets

If I was to upgrade the chainset on my hybrid would I have to change the bottom bracket too or are they compatable with each other?

Depends on what chain set you want. If you're keeping the same set up then I you don't necessarily need a new BB if the one that is in there is OK.

However, for what a new BB costs I would personally chuck one in at the same time just for peace of mind.

you can get a Shimano Deore hollowtech BB and chainset for less than £60. its sometimes cheaper to buy the both together rather than just the chainset as the link below shows
