I'm pondering fitting some sort of chainstay protector to my Roubaix. Commonplace in the MTB world, wondering if anyone uses them on road bikes, and what?

I have a clear one on my Alu road bike and you don't really notice it.

The clear flexible ones are the best, they normally come with a pack of various sizes for protecting against cable rub. You can get rigid chrome ones too but with chainstays now coming in all sorts of wonderous shapes they can be difficult to sit properly so they stick.

Been using XLC CPN01Z type that fasten with velcro rather than sticky stuff for a couple of year with no problems, Go-Outdoors still sell them i think.

I've got a neoprene Lizardskin on the hybrid and it does the job. As other poster have mentioned it's also easy to take off and clean etc.
