Changing a Huret on old Dawes

This is my mint condition Dawes from the 70's. The Huret derailleur hangs on the wheel hub and is secured by the wheel nut. (unlike Galaxys of that era which have a threaded hole on the frame) Is there a way of upgrading the gears? Is there a hanger I can buy so I can use something a little more modern?(less dangerous). Thanks.

Nice bike BTW.
Not sure you are right about the old Galaxy's having integral gear hanger though. I've rebuilt one that doesn't. Thought it was 70's but I could be wrong.

Wow that's brilliant. I have accounts with both these shops. I thought this was the end for this bike as the Huret is by far the worst part of the bike and is annoying me with it's sloppy set up. I have a nice new Sora waiting to be fitted now. Only £2.99 Mrs. B will be pleased too as I've just spent a fortune on new tyres/tubes (the bike had been sitting in a spare room for 35 years).
My green Galaxy is a 1980s not 70's which does have an integral threaded hole. (sorry!). The red one is early 70's (I think) although it doesn't have the words Galaxy on the frame - it may have been a shop build from a frame set.
