I have a 2017 Cube attain with centre lock discs wheels that have seen better days !
Anyway bought some second hand wheels off a cube attain 2024 in nearly new condition.
Only difference I can see is mine are centre lock and my new ones are 6 bolt, that doesn't make any difference does it ?
Plus for the life of me I can't get the tyres on the new set...christ I've cursed ! Even tried to get some older well used tyres on with no joy.Prob a stupid question but the new set of wheels has thick rubber type wheel liner in...would this be anything to think about ?
Thanks

Loch side.
The type of disc makes no difference.

As for the tyre liner. Yes, that's very, very likely the problem.

Talc will help fit a tyre to the wheel, or washing up liquid if going tubeless. I assume these are replacement wheels, then all you'll have to do is maybe re-align the brake callipers (2 minute job) and likely re-align the indexing on the shifting.

Discs usually tend to be positioned in the same place when swapping to different makes of hubs, but you can get the cassette position slightly out, like maybe 0.5mm - you can get spacers for that. This bit is only any use if you plan swapping wheels - I've three bikes with spare wheels, one is disc. Didn't need to adjust brakes even on discs, but all three needed some 'spacer' adjustment - which can be solved by a cheap 'assorted' pack off the internet.

Thanks wheels came with discs on so should in theory be a straight swap....I have just been out to the garage and tried the front wheel in and all seems good, tiny bit of disc rub but I'll sort that later.
As for indexing came of same 10 speed Tiagra so rear should be near enough when I swap the cassette over.
Don't do tubeless so going to remove the wheel liners and have another go at the tyres tomorrow...had enough of them tonight !

Just a caveat regarding your discs, the diameter must be the same. No good fitting 160mm discs if your original discs are 140mm,s.

The 6-bolt vs centerlock doesn't matter as long as you use the correct rotors.

That thick rubber liner is likely a rim strip. It shouldn't stop the tire from going on, but some can be bulky. The real problem is probably the new rims just have a very tight bead seat. You need stronger tire levers and lots of soapy water as lube. It's a common fight with new wheels.

Discs and indexing are all compatible and working as should.....Tyres ffs are killing me !
Changed the rim tape and tried some old Rubinos and I'm still struggling...soaked the tyres in warm water and had another go but no joy.Never really had such a struggle before, they're basically the same wheels that I have on that bike...Cube Attain.
Might need to go to the gym and pump some iron....or just leave them a few days and try again 😁
Hate being defeated at this !

If there is a dip internally in the centre of the rim then try putting wedges all the way round between the far rim and the tyre to move the far side of the tyre into that dip. This eases the tension on the near side that you are trying to fit.
