Bought a charge spoon to replace my crap hybrid saddle, and thought I'd try it given it has such a good rep

Are they all that bloody hard? it's like sitting on a plank

I cant stand them either. A real spoon shoved up my ring would be more comfortable.

I had one on one bike. I did one ride on it, suffered terribly, then gave the saddle away!

Theyre cheap and nasty moulded plastic with a thin layer of foam ajd a vinyl cover, no different to the similarly cheap and nasty Selle saddles that adorn a lot of lower end new bikes.

But stick the "Charge" branding on them and give them a daft name and the gullible start waving their cash enthusiastically. I only wish Id thought of it.

I believe that the Spoon fans actually do find them comfortable, but I certainly did not.

Had one on my old road bike for years so was looking for one for the new eroad bike. Go back through on the thread and plenty got on well with them and this thread

I love them. I must have the matching sit bones. £25 seat and some £40 Van Rysel Bib shorts and I don’t suffer from niggles / rubs / blisters etc of any sort. Comfort in that area never even crosses my mind when riding. Maybe I’ve been lucky finding a combo that works for me…..🤷‍♂️

Saddles are like shorts, some get on and some hate them. IMO there ought to be a accurate sit bone etc scan available and all saddles and shorts identified as to what sit bone etc they are suitable for.

I'm one of those who finds them very comfortable - of 9 bikes, 8 of them have Charge Spoons fitted and the other has a Fabric Scoop which is supposed to be identical. I also have a couple of spares just in case.

The Scoop is a copy of the old Selle Italia Turbo but with a fabric covering. My arriss doesnt fihd them too bad.

The Madison Flux is the same as the Spoon, albeit with different coverings, and is often less expensive.

I tried a spoon and couldn’t get on with it either .
And my old school ass normally likes old school shaped saddles, as my two best bikes are fitted with selle Italia flite 1990 version .
The good thing about the spoon is they were cheap to buy and if you cannot get on with it it’s easy to sell on, which I did . Though I still have a Charge Knife hanging around somewhere 😀
The thing is over the years I’ve spent hundreds of pounds on saddles, but the most comfortable saddle I own came with Giant OCR 0 I bought new in the early to mid 2000s. It’s branded a Fizik but it’s cheap and nasty and built down to a price but it just works for me . 😀
