I am currently training for a bike ride later in the year, my journey will start from horse shoe falls (Llangollen) to west brom using canals , this is about 95 miles , just wondering what the tow paths are like after whitchurch and on to the Shropshire canal, this will be a charity cycle ride for our local hospice

I'll be interesting in reading any replies you get Kelvin, we're looking at doing some rides by canal paths.

Thanks anew, canal tow paths around Llangollen to chirk are very good mainly ,crushed stone so quiet easy on the legs, from chirk to whitchurch are mainly grass path ways so heavy on the legs in the winter, after whitchurch I have no idea and with no replies and 49 people having read my first post I am none the wiser, My thinking is these canals have never ever been used before so I might be the first person on these tow paths , I will let you know after my CHARITY BIKE RIDE, hope this helps a little annew

You emphasise Charity bike ride. I am wondering why?

Have you thought of asking one of the narrow boat forums this question? They will know the condition of the canal paths and a lot of them are also cyclists.

Cake or ice cream? The choice is endless ...

Hawthorns.... take lots of puncture repair kits. Canal banks are usually lined/infested with them. Great for wildlife but certainly not bike freindly.
