Second hand is the way to go in that budget range, normally.

How far is your commute? Hilly or flat? How often do you intend to use the bike per week?

prob use it 2-3 times a week a few hills nothing too big though

Best bet is to check second hand bikes on eBay using the "within 25 miles of your post code" function - do you want drops or Flat Bars?

It's easier to tell you what to look for

The major manufacturers are generally reliable- Specialized,Trek,Giant and Cannondale.

This CAAD5 is about 10 years old and a good quality bike.
