Cheap international calls on a landline.

I'm looking for a cheap package so we can call our friends abroad on a landline. I'm not looking for a mobile or internet solution. I stumbled on Toolani which seems to offer calls at 0.9p per minute to most of the destinations we are interested in. Have any of the parishioners used them? Any advice welcome.

I use Skype... I know, I know you say landline. But for certain subscriptions (I pay a couple of dollars per month for unlimited calls to the UK) there is a feature where you can forward a local call to the number you are calling. This means you can assign a local phone number you can call (on your landline) to an international number.

This has really been a nice feature for me -it means I can call my mum even from my mobile (I know you aren't interested in a mobile solution, just that I find it handy for me to be able to call anyone in the UK from my mobile effectively for free -you can do that from a landline). On the downside, I have found occasionally the call drops and sometimes there is a delay or the call can sound a bit muffled. However it not been a showstopper for me.

Friends and family I have in the UK know I can call them for free (after standard monthly fee, of course) so they either text, or let it ring a few times before hanging up. I then call back. Not exactly what you're looking for, I know.

0.9p per minute to much of Europe. My BT package is an eye-watering £1.09 per minute.

No, not a complete package, just a stand-alone facility to make cheap international calls every once in a while. My existing contract with BT, including broadband, is perfectly OK apart from the cost of phoning abroad.

We offer a service which is prepaid, we then provide you with a UK number for each of your contacts, so if you want you auntie X you dial a specified number, once we receive your call we forward that call to the remote end, if you want your uncle Y we give you another number etc. Each of your contacts have a 1 to 1 relationship, it will depend on the destination on the cost, as low as £0.004p (I think) for the USA. You pay via your own provider the call from your phone to our number, which in most instances is paid for within your package (but please check) then you pay us for the international side.

Why would anybody make a phone call when Watsapp calls are free and the sound quality so good? You can even make a free video call if both ends have good enough internet.
