Well. The police said it's unlikely to go to court because there's not enough evidence but they will be sending a "notice of intended prosecution" so he will have to go the copshop to explain himself and then they'll decide what action to take. They're going to phone me back after they speak to him. I think it helped a bit that i explained i was the cycle instructor and cycle safety rep at work, and the reason i had my camera there was because i was filming for a safety video (ie i wasn't a helmet cam vigilante out to get drivers).
i wish i could be a fly on the wall when he opens his post tomorrow. I'm not too bothered about the court thing, i think the letter will shoot him up and make him think next time. although it does make my blood boil that they haven't got enough evidence; exactly how much evidence do you need other than clear footage of what happened??. i think i'll interpret that as, can't be arsed with the paperwork.
o yea, i originally asked them if they could issue a fine under their new careless driving powers. apparently, they can only do that if the cop witnesses something. WHAT IS THE DAMN POINT IN THE NEW POWERS? cops are never around when you need em.
I think tomorrow i will report the other one to Solihull police.
