Puzzle game procrastinator!
I've just been going through my bank statements and have discovered 2 fraudulent withdrawals of £15 to O2(Uk)ltd Prepay, Slough.

I did this search and was rather alarmed by the results!

Now I've got to go down to the bank to get my card cancelled and fill in a fraud claim. Check your bank statements regularly folks!
History is repeating itself ... :cursing:

I just spotted an unauthorised transaction for £99.98 to Argos. Whatever it was slipped through their online retailing checks - NAUGHTY ARGOS!

The Halifax fraud people said that an attempted transaction to another company had been flagged and rejected. Wouldn't it be nice if that information was passed on to the customer BEFORE they contact the bank!

The money has been refunded and a new card is in the post.

So here's a reminder of my previous advice - Check your bank statements regularly, folks!

I wonder whether somebody knows/suspects that Argos don't check transactions under £100 properly?

I almost missed it when scanning the statement. I was in a hurry and checking how much I had spent on rail fares recently. It just happened to be there between a couple of ticket purchases.

I'm thinking of contacting Argos and telling them to check their transactions more carefully!

The thing is ... the fraudsters must be getting the goods delivered to somewhere and it would be crazy to do it to their own address! I assume that they normally choose small items that can be delivered anywhere, pick up their loot, and then disappear.

I had this one years ago.
Usual culprit are petrol stations.
I tend to use my local one or the odd smkt ..
Scammed card then small payments to phone company.
Amazing how many people don't miss £15 a month.

Phone your bank and get the payment stopped ,or do it online if you have online banking.

When I got scammed a few years ago it was the bank that picked it up not me, their fraud department phoned me, we identified the fraudulent transactions they killed my card issued a new one and refunded the money. In my case the cupret was Chain Reaction Cycles, they had a security breach and card details were stolen. More recently, about fourteen month, ago I was buying a car in Leicester and paying with my debit card, the transaction wouldn't go through, whilst we were looking for the banks phone number the bank phoned and asked me if I was trying to buy a car, I said yes and there was an exchange of security questions and they then authorised the transaction.

The 3 machines that my card had been used in the week before this latest problem were ticket machines at Leighton Buzzard and Todmorden stations, and an ATM near my sister's house in Coventry. I always examine machines to see if they have false fronts and card scanners added, but I didn't spot anything. If the fraudsters did it that way then they had made a very convincing replica of it!

The ATM across the road in Coventry got done a couple of years ago. I think the Coventry ATM might be the source of the problem. I wonder if things have improved since this article 5 years ago - watch out @dave r!

I meant to mention that I normally get cashback in supermarkets these days rather than use potentially compromised ATMs in the street, but I forgot to do so before going to Coventry and didn't go to any supermarkets while I was there.

A card machine scamming mob I saw go through court installed a microphone as well as a camera and skimmer.

The reason is that many people speak/mouth the number quietly to themselves as they tap it in.

This mob got several PIN numbers over the audio even though the customer had shielded the key pad.

I was scammed a few years ago.

The bank seemed to suggest Paypal was the source, so I no longer use it.

You used the card in the ticket machine at Hebden Bridge, this year?

Or a month prior to the online transaction date.

I have been having fun with Barclays and Dell over the last month - to the tune of more than 7k. Barclays have been completely negligent and unprofessional, so far I have £500 compensation, I am just waiting for them to make another mistake so I can really go to town on them.

One ALMOST has to admire their ingenuity!
