We always check over our bikes but how often do you check your cleats?
i had a bolt fall out of mine this morning and the cleat skewed round whilst i was trying to un-clip and i almost ended up in the mud. managed to tighted the remaining bolt (mountain bike style cleats) and make it to work but there was a small hairy moment there.
before you commute remember to check!

My foot kept coming out of my cleats on my commuter whenever I was going uphill. Turns out that they work themselves loose over time. So I tightened them on Sunday and they worked a treat.

Had almost the same thing happen on Horse Gaurds parade, in London.

very embarrassing. Didn't realise it was a missing screw until some time later though.

The amount of miles I do I need to apply lubricant to my cleats once a week else they don't last that long. As the longest thing is getting the lube out of the shed, I do all of them at the same time. Any problems are spotted then.

Go on, tilt your head!
I nearly fell off the other day when I couldn't unclip, the whole cleat was turning with the shoe lol

Got home and found the bolt loose but still present, I'll apply a little thread lock when I remember next!

I had a loose cleat the other day. I put on a pair of shoes I don't wear very often. They're brown Aldi ones, and I don't like the colour. Half way to the shops, I felt my float was a bit excessive. Fortunately, I stopped to find one loose bolt.

Twice I've had a loose cleat bolt lock my foot to the pedal, but fortunately one time I managed to get the 'wrong' foot down, and the other was the foot I keep clipped in anyway.

I do tend to check regularly, though.

Mine was also an Aldi shoe...but the black and silver version.

Also (and slightly OT) why did you knowingly buy a pair of shoes in a colour you do not like? That tickled me lol

Never had a screw loosen on my cleats. I have a couple of small tubes of locktight, the blue and the red (different strengths) Figured a bit of chemical assistance is better than potentially applying too much torque and risking a stripped thread.

Happened to me once on my unclipping foot (my left) panic ensued and just in time unclipped on my right got home and i had to rip out the shoe from the pedal

Well, I didn't buy them. The person who bought them found there was only one pair of black shoes in my size and, er, my son has the same size feet as me, so the black ones were put into use as his track shoes.
