Checking the wear of the chain

Hi All,
Has anyone used this tool to check the wear on the chain?

From tool to tool it is different. From the video I have seen the Parktool's tool I should not insert into outer links but this tool won't fit into those.
From what I can see now the left bit is to go first (not second as I thought initially).
Right side bit drops into the chain link at 0.75% which tells me this is worn already.
I applied pressure on the pedal to stretch the chain.
Is it expected for the chain to wore down in like 8 months (KMC X8)? I replaced to a new chain and cassette at the same time.
I think I did like 600 miles on it but not sure.
This is an ebike so wonder if the assistance contributes to the wear but I am not a hefty chap nor I ride in Sport/Turbo mode.

I check the chain because I think it started slipping but I don't know for sure if slipping or is it a misaligned derailleur?
It feels like slipping but only on some gears definitely not on the lowest and not on the highest.

Chains do wear more quickly on a e-bike, how quickly depends on the riding you do. It’s always cheaper to replace a worn chain than a worn drive train.
The nice man here shows how to use the tool. AFAIK, there is no need to push the pedal down while checking for wear.

It is common for people using Ebikes to stay in the same gear, which may be why you find certain gears slip. Usually it's the top two gears, to the extent that we can now order and replace these gears on a cassette for customers.

As @Punkawallah says, best to change the chain now than the entire drivetrain later.

That’s knackered, if it’s like that on the 100% marker then it’ll need a cassette as well

600miles is a ridiculously low amount of miles from a chain and that one looks completely shot seeing as it's over 0.75 worn!

My wife has an ebike which has done 800miles and hardly any wear on chain so not sure what happened to yours.

it looks like the same tool however mine won't drop into the gap (inner link) even with the other (anchor) side free.
I call these inner/outer link, perhaps there is a correct term for that.
On his video he dropped it into the inner.
I can only drop it into outer link, it won't drop into inner when anchored or not.

I know what you mean but this is not in my case. I shift a lot. I know some e-bikers when struggle change to more powerful mode rather than shifting gears.

From what I can see in your picture you are using the tool the right way, but I see what you mean when I look closely at the video. I have no clear Idea why the tool would hit the ‘inner’ link.
