I can't remember the last time I wrote a cheque out. saying that, I'm not even sure where my cheque book is. (goes to look for it now)

Oh yeah kids...forgot about those..

Using a cheque to pay for kids is not recommended

My brother works in a bank, and regrets the passing of the cheque.

Often one of the cashiers would start to chortle....

People would be out, hear a good joke and decide to write it down to remember it, the only paper would be the back of a cheque.

They used to get quite a few jokes

They also used to get shopping lists, love notes and all sorts.

Use it to wind up your accountant. Pay for your expenses with as many cheques for identical amounts as you can. Arrange with your suppliers for them to take them to the bank at random times, months apart. Bah!
Do postal orders still exist?

When I was a kid I spent a lot of my pocket money sending off for strange things like fossilised shark's teeth and scorpions, and I used lots of them.
Yes....

My wife has started a small business, and at the moment we accept cheques, but so many youngsters do m=not use them.

I think a third of the cheques are numbered between 000001 and 000005, and about 15% use postal orders instead
