Hi,

Ive had these doing nothing at the back of the garden in a heap for three months. I'm slowly stripping the leaves and mowing them up to go into the compost heap.

They're leaves from a Prunus laurocerasus.

However I notice some of them are starting to look a bit mouldy, so I'm wondering if they can go in the leaf mould pile instead?

Yes, but I'm asking about leaf mould not compost. I'm already composting them.

I have a seperate leaf mould heap. This works by fungi rather than whatever compost works by

High in cyanide so best not to eat your compost should you be so inclined. Hard to compost due to the waxy leaf cuticle.

Victorian lepidopterists (oh so brave) crushed a few leaves into a jar and gassed their captives before mounting.

Read this as you wish.
