I may have misheard but I'm sure one of the news reports said they were bringing the miners who suffer from claustrophobia out last.... what?!?

I never heard those comments, maybe the reasoning is that with it being such an intricate operation, if one of the miners suffering from claustrophobia panics during his rescue, he could jepordise the rescue of the others. It may also have a calming effect on those miners as well after they see a lot of there colleagues go through the ordeal and be rescued.

It's one thing being in a mine shaft that you can stand up and walk about in, but quite another being in a metal cylinder which is so small that you can't even get into it unless you cross your arms in front of you! I don't suffer from claustrophobia normally, but I really wouldn't fancy that...

As one who does suffer from claustrophobia, I laid awake horrified on hearing the news of the miners being found alive. I'm not the sort who would go anywhere near a mine or cave, so it is unlikely that any of the 33 are like me and freak out at the possibility of being confined with no space to move.

I don't like the London Underground or crowded lifts and don't use them.

They interviewed a chaplain or similar (a bloke in a frock anyway) on the Beeb telling us all how we should all be thanking god for enabling the miners safe rescue. This wouldn't be the same god who allowed the miners to spend two months down there in the first place would it?! Strangely the frock guy didn't elaborate on that small point.

Apparently it's not just the miners wives who've turned up.

Their mistresses have also made themselves known!

Yes... the beeb have mentioned that... some might be heading down again in the next capsule...

I wouldn't be surprised if they haven't told the miners otherwise some would refuse to surface to avoid facing their wife's wrath.

*phew* i'm not the only one  .

michael white has an article in the guardian,, talking about worldwide events and how they're almost entirely BAD like the tsunami or 9/11.. he felt you had to go back to apollo 13 for something similar in scope and seemingly positive result ( though that was a much shorter timescale obviously)..

incredible.

and it still isnt over

it's ace. 24 out now. 25th on the way. they'll all be out by morning if no hitches. i think the claustrophobic ones were going in the middle. i'm not sure it's claustrophobic in the true sense of the word, i think they mean those who are in a fragile state of mind or health. i think they want to make sure that there are no hitches and the capsule is running smoothly, so they have the best chance of no hitches on the way to scare them even more.
