I bought a team gilet from AE last week.4xl which was 120cm give or take 2-3 cm on their chart advice.Glad i went 4xl it fits great, and its well long over me bum,i am so pleased. My sbib shorts were from love2pedal in America, and a bit old so i bought some Decathalon under padded shorts like y fronts a great idea they go on first then the bibs on over them.works for me.

I have sworn by Decathlon's bib shorts for absolutely ages now. The only problem is they keep on changing the names of the ranges, so when I go to buy them, I have to really look into the description to make sure I'm buying the same type. They used to be numbered - 100 being the cheapest, the 500, 700 and 900 at the higher end, but now they've got names instead (Essential, Endurance, Road, Pro I think are the equivalents)

While I have some of their higher-end pairs for outdoor riding, the ones I use on the turbo are typically the Van Rysel Endurance range, which are typically £35 without straps or £40 with straps. They provide the best balance between comfort and price for me.

I think I mentioned the Van Rysel Endurance on an old thread too Dan. Had a pair for a while, at under £40 a pair can't complain. Very thick pad similar to the original Rapha Pro Team bibs. The only note, as they are a 'budget' short, the lycra is not super premium. It's a bit thicker and stiffer and I have found there is less give around the front. Still perfectly comfy but it might affect sizing slightly if you are in between.

Just signed up for 100+ mile ride.....going to need a Bib Short upgrade for sure. These Van Rysel get rave reviews as noted by many here.
BUT: the remit says "....for rides of 3-5 hours".

Whats the reality if im going to be in the saddle for say 7-8 hours ?

Looking forward to giving these Van Rysel Bib Shorts a more prolonged ‘test’ this weekend; based on the recommendations from this thread 👌

Van Rysel Bib shorts have arrived. And tried on statically. And feel great……first proper ‘test’ tomorrow !

For the Dunwich Dynamo / longer / any (?) rides - what underwear should i be wearing underneath ?

Current Bib Shorts are ok. But I do get some very slight discomfort / rubbing after 40.+ miles on my very inner thighs. (Hence the buying these).

I do however wear my normal ‘baggy’ Boxer shorts underneath. And I’m sure that means there’s plenty of material to bunch / get rid of……and then rub.

Don’t be shy guys. Tell me your secret to comfort-success. No pics though please 🤣

Commando always.
For long rides I use a bit of sudocreme to help with any rubbing. Works well and doesn't stain the shorts.

You can also buy other anti chaffing cremes, Bum Butter etc
