Fair point, i will be getting a road bike because my commute to work on my mtb is such a struggle with weight of the bike (have changed tyres) that the thought of getting a lighter/faster bike appeals

could not agree more just dont understand why people spend that kind of money without trying it first , if you lived nearer you would be more than welcome to borrow a bike to try and see how you get on , best of luck

Just to put my two Penneth in!! I started on a old cheapy mtb about 7yrs ago then through c2w got a hybrid which was and is still great for the work ride! Then bought a new mtb because I was missing out on dirty track rides, have now bought a rd bike and love it for the long rides!! Now getting upto 60 miles which I doubt I'd ever have done on hybrid or mtb!! I've had it 3 months and probably done 500 miles ish and still getting used to it! Hope that gives you a little help in what you decide to purchase. Matt

Found in the Yorkshire hills ...
The Focus has the better groupset (Sora vs 2300).

I've the previous version of the Revenio (Airlite 100) as a 'winter' commuter - with a carbon fork it's proven good enough to use for commuting all year and on club runs. It's been surprisingly good.

Well what is the roadbike going to have on the wheels...? Slicks are tyres that don't have a knobbly grip like an MTB, which is one reason why MTBs are hard to ride on the road
