its definately worth calling in rather than browsing the sites, at least they can measure you up and get the right fit.

Oh yeah, I'll be popping in to them, although maybe a bit closer to the time. I have to be careful though, I'm a sucker for salesmen and I guarantee that unless i go in there with a good mind to what I want, I will come out with my whole £1000 limit used up!

Was just looking at the Specialised Sirrus Sport (hybrid) looks pretty gorgeous...and only £450...not sure whether the extra £150 for the Elite is worth it though!

Most of the guys I work with ride hybrids to work, for their durability. There is a huge amount of hybrids in the £500 to £700 range. They will have Shimano Altus, Acera or Alivio group-sets and disc brakes. Some may come with carbon forks as well.

The Cannondale Bad Boy might be a good fit, if you are a bigger guy. Its a hybrid with a slight lean towards MTBs.

Thanks for the advice...I'm not sure if I count as a bigger guy anymore. when I bought the first bike I was around the 20st mark, but now I'm only just over 17...

Oh well, double post but hey ho...

Just found out that my employer has decided to give the cycle scheme at work out to tender to see what other providers of the service can do deal-wise!

Basically this means it could be months and months...especially as I work in a LA!

Guess thats any hope of having a nice new bike scuppered...back to browsing ebay/gumtree
