Choosing a different font style

This is a relatively simple question I hope. I keep a list of about eight fonts that I often use, but would like to find some more.

I could, I know, labouriously scroll through all the examples in the font selection box on Word. I recall seeing somewhere a long list of the fonts, with the name of that font written in that font. The font list on this forum is in that format, but I thought that was just a few of the available ones. Or has Admin, in his wisdom, listed all the good ones.

One of the ones I like is Lucinda Handwriting, but that is not always suitable.

I am looking for different styles of font to use, but they must be easily legible. I have searched in the obvious places in Word, without success.

Would any very kind person be able to point me in the right direction? Thank you

I think I have found out why there seem to be comparatively few fonts readily available.

Note to self

Fonts need to be on everyone's word processing package, so the fonts on this forum are the common ones. Doh!!

In mitigation, when I started using a computer there was no Tinternet, it was not even a twinkle in someone's eye.

When I started work, there was just one computer in the entire building. It took up a very large, and temperature-controlled, room on its own, required three or four people to look after it. What did it do? Just the invoicing process.

Thank you to Melvil and Alan, you have both told me about the same site. Yes, it is very good, as it gives some more unusual typefaces and shows what they look like.

It has some very bold and different ones, good for posters and grabbing attention.

Thanks both of you.;)

Edit Having had a brief look at the site, I have noticed that some of them say "Free", or "Free for Personal Use" or "Shareware".

I presume the second category is just for people to use on Personal documents. Can the other two categories be used for posters and circulars that are going to perhaps two or three hundred people without harming the "licensing" of the fonts?
