THe had the Chris Moyles show on the car radio and in the 30 minutes from the time he came on the air he didn't play one music track.

Isn't it a good thing he didn't play any music, modern pop music being such bland, corporate, style-over-substance sh1te.

6 music is where it's at...

Mark Radcliffe & Stuart Macone every afternoon.
Marc (Lard) Riley in the Evenings
Cerys Mathews Sunday morning
Jarvis Cocker Sunday tea time
Stuart Macone Sunday evening

...are all highly recommended.

I also like Andrew Collins.

Steve Wright is as bad. A couple of months ago he played The immigrant Song and cut it off half way through to do a phone interview with Ant and Dec.

And last week he started talking over Dave Edmund's brilliant version of Promised Land and again cut it half way through, this time to play some bland Euro-pop thrash.

BTW, one of the reasons that the BBC tried, and thankfully failed, to shoot R6 Music was because it was costing £6million per year to run. Chris Moyles gets almost £7 million per year!!!

I never knew that stat! Blimey... makes my 500+ word essay to the beeb in favour of 6 when under the axe feel all the more worth it!

edit... and the adam & joe show on saturday morning if it ever returns (please please)

Steve Wright has played the same 1986 playlist since...errr...1986. Wonder if he's ever forgiven Morrisey?

The one advantage of Moyles not broadcasting the Radio 1 playlist is that he's not broadcasting the Radio 1 playlist.

The real advantage of him being on Radio 1, is that as a Radio 2 listener i don't have to listen to him.

Good point well made. I must admit I didn't like Evans when he did the morning show on R1. Now though , after losing it completely as he did, he's come back more controlled, and understanding his talents better.

Ah, now I'd say that this was your first mistake (not changing channels would be your second  ) and I'd also say that thinking that marks you out as being somewhere within 5 years of your half century.

3 years past the half century to be precise. I was in my sons car, even he didn't think much of him. I am more of a Radio2 and Radio4 man myself. It was a shame when Stewart McConie and Mark Radcliffe left their evening show on R2. I do sometimes listen to them on 6Music, but I get home just before they finish. I should use the i player a bit more.

[quoteI quite like listening to him. It's easy, better than Chris Evans, and lighter than radio 4 if I'm not in the mood.

quite!

also he entertains about 7.5 milion listeners i believe so a £ a listener, and the forethought and ability to write jingles and music parodies but hey lets be british and knock someone who is successful. whether you like him or not he is successful and he also regularly discusses his fitness and weightloss regime a good example to todays youth? yes i am sure someone will come up with something that is distatseful about him , but we can do that about alot of people in the public eye, hey what about footballers- tevez anyone?
