Hi There

Can anyone give us some advice. We are looking for a bike to transport our girls in the winter out of the weather and so they don't have to pedal. They are age 8 and 4 with about 10kg difference in weight. We have been looking at the christiania trike having read about a variety of transport bikes. Can anyone offer us the wisdom of their experience or knowledge on
  • how good or bad these trikes are?
  • DO they keep the kids dry?
  • how stable it is with the weight difference of the girls?
  • how it handles up hills and down?
  • how easy it is for the children to get in and out once the covers are on?
  • We may want to transport their friends as well and how much space there is for this realistically?
  • Whether the straight box with the prairie cover or the sloping box with buhgatti cover is better?
  • Has anyone experience of the slumpf gear on this trike?
  • Any other comments or advice (regarding transporting the girls )
Many thanks in advance

ok, well, I've never used one myself, but from what I know of them they are well made and supremely up to the job you describe. I assume you've taken into account that they are fairly heavy, but if you don't have mega hills to cope with, they're probably fine.

I saw a lot of them being used in Copenhagen when I was there (ideal, flat city), and without exception the kids looked really happy and the whole outfit exhuded a sort of calm sense of complete enjoyment.

Being made in Denmark, I'd assume the level of weather protection is pretty good, them having a not dissimilar climate to us...

Don't know if that helps much, but I hope you get what you're looking for!

I've heard good things about the Christina's. There are however a couple of other alternatives. The Nihola Cigar and the Trio Bike are the two that spring to mind.

When we were considering a trike, we were recommended to get to a shop in London that have examples of each that you can test drive. Apparently a couple of people of the mum's forum my wife frequents changed their mind from one make to another after riding them.

But as we're nowhere near London, I've not seen any of these in the flesh - and we now have a Pashley Picador we got cheap instead. Does us fine, but wouldn't take two kids as old as yours, nor are the kids under cover.
