Do you have any traditions?

On Christmas Eve I spend time in the kitchen with my daughter, baking/decorating Christmas cupcakes, with Christmas music playing.
The men have a drink and come in at various intervals to goad us taste samples!

We usually then relax in the front room and play some Singstar on the PS3.
At midnight we each open a small gift, toast those not with us, and go to bed.

I love the old B&W films (watching Cary Grant, The Bishops Wife as we speak!) I was brought up on those, plus musicals as well as trips to the theatre

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
Last time I went to midnight mass I was 16. Haven't been in a church from that night till now accept for my brother and my dads funeral.

I've decided that this year I'm going to get some serious religion so I'm taking myself off to midnight mass at Stonyhurst College, which is the seat of the Jesuit faith in the UK. They do stuff properly there with a good choir, Latin, incense, candle light, Mozart, traditional hymns and none of that ghastly banal Graham Kendrick style English rubbish that has done so much to ruin religion in Britain.

Pub for dinner (so there's no prep & mess to do and it's a relax before the Big Day), relax in front of a film or two - would've opened one gift each as well, but we went to Olympia horse show yesterday and daughter & wife both went crazy shopping and ended up asking for various bits not to be wrapped up! My other tradition is trying to get them both to watch "Its a wonderful life" with me. Toasting those not with us as mentioned above as well.
