My top tip - do your Christmas shopping in January.

Have a week annual leave in the first week of December. Booked a travelodge 2 miles from the trafford centre for a tenner on a Monday night and am going to get it done all in one day. Will be a nice road trip as well.

I have already done all of my chrimbo shopping. Just a few things from argos but I have left room for getting DVD's and other little things when out and about in the meantime. I just hope noone goes snooping in my cupboards!

Prezzies this year will be, as usual, a bundle of beer tokens for my two lads and something nice for my dad which will probably include some M+S vouchers.

'Mrs' Fox has already had something which she thought was an early Christmas present but if she's a good girl I've got something else in mind for her.

I will buy as many things online as I can, and try and have everything done a couple weeks before Christmas. Too close to Christmas I have to spend far too much time singing or organising choirs for said singing to be buying presents. (I will, again, be singing at two 'midnight masses' 180 miles apart on Christmas Eve)

Our family have the same problem every year (and with birthdays too). We always ask each other what they would like, and none of us ever seems to have a clue what they would actually like. Getting out of people what they want takes far longer than actually obtaining said items.

Mine's done and dusted and has been since the end of August.

There's great bargains to be had throughout the year and they have to be taken advantage of.

Mind you the wrapping gets done at the last minute. I haven't mastered getting that done well in advance.

indeed ... I have managed to come up with a suggestion for one of that type of people, which has happily been accepted as a good idea. Now there is a couple more to be sorted, the rest is much easier, phew.

Yeah, stuff like that *isn't* helping customers budget for Christmas and spread the load. And we fall for it every time. Well, I say we. Thus far I've managed to resist the mince pies. Whose best before dates are presumably long before the end of December...

*resists the thought of whipping up some brandy butter, just to make sure that the remains of last year' bottle is still palatable...*

Christmas shopping starts at 5.51pm on 24th December. I didn't realise you could do it earlier....
