Christmas tree out already? Really???

Just popped into a large supermarket chain store and couldn't believe it...a Christmas Tree! Now it might just be me but every year me and the wife argue because I won't let the tree go up until after my birthday at the beginning of December.

But it's the beginning of November!!! Come on! Is it just me that thinks it's ludicrous???

Yes, it is ridiculous. Mrs Fnaar reports seeing one up (fake one) since late September in someone's home.
We rarely put one up (always a real one) before 20-21st Dec.
Was having my hair cut yesterday... Some music TV channel on in the background... Christmas songs all the way.

It doesn't help when in London, they switch the Oxford Street Christmas lights on on the first day of November .
That seems to be some sort of signal that Christmas has begun.
The "C" word should be banned until December. Can't stand it myself anyway, any original meaning is long gone and it's now just an excuse to get us all to empty our bank accounts. Roll on January; November and December are shite for a number of reasons, Christmas being the main one.

Tree and decorations go up on Christmas eve here, makes it seem special somehow. mind you it's what we did as kids whilst Dad went out with Mums 2 brothers to fetch the festive supplies (ordered from the local butchers) then off for a few drinks with them. Trouble was Dad didn't really drink but they did so every year they'd end up carrying him home where he'd be plonked in a chair with a bucket nearby.

Oh come on everybody. It's Xmas:

1. the celebration of an imaginary friend being born a couple of thousand years ago
2. an opportunity for shops to redistribute our wealth to the shop workers on a minimum wage (oh and to the Chinese)
3. a period of dark nights where we get to put twinkly lights up

So what's not to like about the stuff going up in Oct/Nov

Went to Maplins three weeks ago. They had an inflatable Santa tethered by the outside door.
Tree up in the house a week before and down 2nd of January does me, although a friend's wife insists on the tree in their house being taken down on Boxing Day, which is a bit extreme.

FFS Here we go again. They are not a house celebrating Christmas, they are selling goods for the Christmas period where the prime time for selling these goods depends on the sector.

For example, people start buying presents and food items around November (for example).

Hotels and restaurants start taking bookings from July/August. Corporate events often earlier than that. Businesses therefore advertise and promote these services during their prime time.
